About.

Floating somewhere between the ordinary and the otherworldly, Charlie Bennell’s oil paintings transport the viewer to utopian architectural scenes. Through her practice, she contemplates the hyper-connectedness of modern life and the need for meditative spaces.

Her paintings are imbued with an element of reverie, offering solace by distilling objects and spaces into vehicles for vibrant colour and child-like playfulness. The interplay between the built environment and the human psyche is expressed through liminal spaces of doorways and staircases, symbolising a sense of transience and renewal of the mind.

Charlie Bennell is an alumna of UNSW Art and Design, Sydney and Parsons School of Design, New York (Travel Scholarship), graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art in 2020. She has exhibited across Sydney, Melbourne and New York.
